Tim Tebow: God Knows, Boomer Esiason Doesn’t!

Boomer Esiason, the former, non-Super Bowl winning Quarterback who had an 80-93 record on teams he led, has blasted one of the league’s newest quarterbacks, Tim Tebow.  In his official capacity as a football analyst for CBS Sports, Esiason shared his latest thoughts on Tebow during a CBS Press Event on Tuesday in New York: “He can’t play. He can’t throw.  I’m not here to insult him. The reality is he was a great college football player, maybe the greatest college football player of his time. But he’s not an NFL quarterback right now. Just because he’s God-fearing, and a great person off the field, and was a winner with the team that had the best athletes in college football, doesn’t mean his game is going to translate to the NFL.” At least … Read entire article »

PFLAG, Baptist Churches & Autonomy

What’s up with local Baptist Associations?  Several seem to have been quite busy in recent weeks, expelling member churches from their ranks.  First, Surry Baptist Association, in Mt. Airy, NC, voted to oust Flat Rock Baptist Church within 16 days of the church calling a woman, Bailey Edwards Nelson, as their pastor.  For those not familiar with Southern Baptist doctrine, calling a female pastor is not only highly discouraged, but it is well likely the only violation of pastoral qualifications (see 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1) that will get a church kicked out of the fold.  Churches who call ill-tempered or greedy pastors or pastors who don’t have control over their own household (all violations of the Scriptural qualifications for elders or pastors) never have to worry about their … Read entire article »

Janeane Garofalo’s Incredibly Shrill Voice

No longer filming Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Janeane Garofalo has apparently decided to not only limit her future audience, but to shrink it down to such miniscule numbers that no one will really care.  It pains me that she was not in one — but two –Seinfeld episodes in the 1990′s.  Looking back, that’s about two too many. Garofalo, recently interviewed by Keith Olbermann on Current TV, began displaying what can only be described as an unhinged rant about Herman Cain’s Presidential candidacy.  To hear Ms. Garofalo, you would be hard-pressed not to come away with the impression that she would have fit right in with the Southern white racists who controlled the Democrat Party in the 1950′s and 1960′s. For Garofalo, a white “comedian,” to accuse Cain of either being some kind of sell-out to his race … Read entire article »

Teacher’s Free Speech Chilled Over “Anti-Gay” FB Post

That didn’t take long.  Who would have ever thought that Mount Dora, the sleepy little community in Lake County, FL, would lead the way in stamping out any negative criticism of so-called gay marriage?  No one would have ever envisioned this scenario even 10 years ago, but that just goes to prove how far the radical gay agenda has come in the last decade.  I don’t think it will take another five years before all speech critical of gay rights or homosexuality will be effectively prohibited in the United States, notwithstanding the First Amendment. Jerry Buell, a 22 year veteran teacher in the Lake County (FL) public schools, has been suspended over a post he made on his personal Facebook page.  Buell, who has a spotless teaching record, wrote two quick posts on … Read entire article »

Illegal Immigrants, Amnesty & an Imperial President

All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives. (Article I, Section 1, U.S. Constitution) For someone who served as editor of the Harvard Law Review and who described himself as a “constitutional law professor,” our nation’s current President, Barack H. Obama, seems to be woefully deficient in his understanding of the United States Constitution.  By the time I was finished with 9th grade Civics, I knew that Congress (Legislative Branch) made laws, the President (Executive Branch) enforced the laws, and the Supreme Court (Judicial Branch) interpreted the laws.  Of course, by the time I finished law school, I understood that the Judicial Branch also made laws, but that’s another post. By executive fiat, the President — harkening … Read entire article »
