Tim Tebow Impacts Muslims in Denver!
While he continues impacting (albeit at times unconventionally) the Broncos and the entire NFL this season, Tim Tebow has also found a way (perhaps unbeknownst to him, although I doubt it) to impact people in Denver and throughout the country in ways that no other player could. One family in particular that Tebow has impacted is a third-generation Colorado family, the Suleimans. Tebow, the devout Christian known for his public expressions of faith, has become a hero to this Muslim-American family. You see, it was the Suleiman brothers — Tariq, Ali and Mohammad — who are responsible for “the Sign,” the towering electronic billboard that captured national attention when it began running messages in September urging the Denver Broncos to start Tim Tebow as quarterback. The Washington Times has a wonderfully uplifting story (“Three Denver Muslims Lead Cheers for Tebow”) of … Read entire article »

Miraclulous: Tebow Proves Esiason Wrong!
Even though Tim Tebow was not able to pull-out another Mile High Miracle against the New England Patriots last Sunday (tough for any team when you turn the ball over three times in your own half of the field), perhaps a greater miracle was unfolding on the Sean Hannity Show. Sitting in for Sean, Guest Host Monica Crowley interviewed Boomer Esiason, the former NFL quarterback and current CBS football analyst, about football in general and Tim Tebow in particular. I have been especially critical of Esiason because of what I perceived as his (and Dan Marino’s) mocking of Tim Tebow last season. That biased mocking, which continued this season, was not always confined to an analysis of Tebow’s on-the-field performances, but also included commentary which came across as a knock against Tebow’s overt display of faith. Esiason, like many … Read entire article »

On Judges, Gingrich’s Foolishness On Display
For the record, I still do not believe that Evangelical Christians should give a serial adulterer serious consideration for President of the United States. If you take issue with that declaration, then you need to re-evaluate your judgment on William Jefferson Clinton’s moral authority to successfully lead our nation during his time in the Oval Office. And, while Newt Gingrich may have repented of his sins and been forgiven by God for his transgressions (God’s grace knows no boundaries when it comes to our sin), that does not mean that he should be given a pass in the current Presidential sweepstakes. After all, the Bible clearly tells us that those who commit adultery are utter fools whose shame will never be erased (see Proverbs 6:32-33). Added to Gingrich’s past tom-foolery is his … Read entire article »
Fire Destroys Grundy, VA Church: Is God Still Good?
God is good, all the time — All the time, God is good!” It was a phrase that was well used, even before I arrived as Pastor of Grundy Baptist Church in January 2002. Located in the far southwestern part of Virginia (on the border of Kentucky and West Virginia), Grundy is in the heart of coal mining country, situated in the picturesque Appalachian Mountains. It was at Grundy Baptist Church — established in 1903 — where I would really learn what it meant to be a pastor. And, my on-the-job training would begin the minute my family and I stepped foot in Grundy. Five days before we left Florida to relocate to Grundy, I received a call asking me if I had heard what happened in Grundy. As we were packing and had no television to watch, I told the … Read entire article »
