{"id":1473,"date":"2011-01-11T05:00:31","date_gmt":"2011-01-11T12:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fromlaw2grace.com\/?p=1473"},"modified":"2011-01-11T05:00:31","modified_gmt":"2011-01-11T12:00:31","slug":"politics-the-god-of-leftists-in-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fromlaw2grace.com\/?p=1473","title":{"rendered":"Tucson, Politics &#038; the god of Leftists"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Imagine there&#8217;s no Heaven It&#8217;s easy if you try<br \/>\nNo hell below us Above us only sky<br \/>\nImagine all the people Living for today<\/p>\n<p>Imagine there&#8217;s no countries It isn&#8217;t hard to do<br \/>\nNothing to kill or die for And no religion too<br \/>\nImagine all the people Living life in peace<\/p>\n<p>You may say that I&#8217;m a dreamer But I&#8217;m not the only one I hope someday you&#8217;ll join us And the world will be as one.<br \/>\n<strong><em>(&#8220;Imagine&#8221; by John Lennon)<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The tragic and horrific events that took place in Tucson this past Saturday, where a sitting member of Congress was shot in the head and where\u00a0six people were killed, including a nine-year old girl and the chief federal district court judge in Arizona, are vivid reminders that John Lennon was a great musician, but\u00a0an atrocious philosopher.<\/p>\n<p>How to explain\u00a0the actions of one Jared Loughner, the (alleged) gunmen that walked up to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords at a Safeway Store on Saturday?\u00a0 If Lennon&#8217;s philosophy is correct, then we could certainly not blame evil or the devil for the deadly massacre that was\u00a0carried out by a clearly deranged young man.\u00a0 For that matter, we could not even blame evil for Mark David Chapman&#8217;s assassination of Lennon himself in December 1980.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no heaven or hell, that means there is no God or devil.\u00a0 While I obviously strongly disagree with Lennon and his warped ideology (no surprise), there can be no question that this\u00a0philosophy, if carried to its logical conclusion, will lead some people &#8212; both on the right and the left of the political spectrum &#8212; to create\u00a0other gods\u00a0to replace the one, true God.<\/p>\n<p>These gods have existed since the beginning of time, but one of the stronger gods has been particularly\u00a0visible in the last few days.\u00a0 It is certainly not this god&#8217;s first appearance in this country, but it is\u00a0perhaps the most\u00a0visible\u00a0(and vivid).\u00a0 While\u00a0the latest manifestation of this god is seen most clearly from the verbal rantings of\u00a0liberals\/leftists (both elected officials and\u00a0columnists), one should\u00a0understand that this god is also worshipped\u00a0by some on the right as well.<\/p>\n<p>This god\u00a0offers temptations to those who would give their whole-hearted allegiance in worship &#8212; power, money, celebrity, fame, status.\u00a0 But, for those who sell their souls, there will be a price to be paid, although\u00a0those who worship this god will continue to be oblivious to the consequences of such blind &#8220;faith.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What god\u00a0could have such a powerful hold on so many otherwise sane and rational people, so much so that these\u00a0people say and do things that are antithetical to rational\u00a0thought?\u00a0 Of course, I am talking about the god of POLITICS.<\/p>\n<p>We have seen the true worshippers of the god of politics quickly surface\u00a0in the wake of the senseless\u00a0tragedy\u00a0that took place in\u00a0Tucson, Arizona on Saturday.\u00a0 From the completely (and par for the course) <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2011\/01\/08\/assassination-attempt-in-arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\">inane rantings of\u00a0<em>New York Times&#8217; <\/em>columnist Paul Krugman <\/a>to the politically opportunistic views expressed by sitting United States Senator\u00a0Dick Durban, we are witnessing some on the left become completely unhinged and calculatingly cold and cruel in\u00a0their response to what can only be described as an evil act.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Durban and others, no doubt wanting to burnish\u00a0their\u00a0credentials among the lunatic left in this country and raise money for their never-ending campaigns, were all-too-eager to offer up the left&#8217;s most hated bogeyman, Sarah Palin, as the direct cause of Loughner&#8217;s evil acts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>And Sen.
