Let the madness begin!\u00a0 Well, it already has begun.\u00a0 March Madness, otherwise known as the NCAA Basketball Tournament, started earlier today.\u00a0 With some spare time on my hands this morning, much like all the spare time that the leader of the free world<\/del> President of the United States has in the midst of worldwide crises, I too found time to fill out my tournament brackets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the first day of play, I have\u00a0won some and lost some.\u00a0 I originally picked Morehead State to win its game, but\u00a0then I realized I had misread the pairing, thinking that they were playing Georgetown.\u00a0 As an alumnus of George Washington University, I will\u00a0not under any circumstances\u00a0cheer for Georgetown.\u00a0 However, when\u00a0I quickly realized Morehead was actually playing Louisville, I had to go with the team from the city of my seminary alma mater — The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.\u00a0 Alas, I should have just stayed with the underdog in that encounter.<\/p>\n

I did\u00a0stick with Atlantic 10 powerhouse Temple (who won) and former Atlantic 10 rival WVU (another win), so I’m off to a so-so start.\u00a0 Considering that basketball is not my favorite sport and I know next to nothing about any of this year’s\u00a0teams, I really have nothing to lose.\u00a0 I do have an all-SEC Championship Game, with Kentucky facing off against Florida.\u00a0\u00a0To get there, the Wildcats will have to play better\u00a0following a first-round scare from Princeton (yes, that Princeton).<\/p>\n

While most folks are following basketball’s March Madness, many of my readers are unaware of another Championship tournament that started today — Southern Baptist\u00a0Blog Madness 2011<\/em>.\u00a0 Sponsored by SBCVoices (who I have the privilege of writing for in addition to my own blog), this four-bracket tournament pits some of the best of the SBC blogosphere against one another.<\/p>\n

There are some great blogs in the tournament.\u00a0 As a relatively new blogger (less than nine months), I am grateful to have been nominated and included in this year’s tournament.\u00a0 I have been placed in the Southwest Regional bracket.\u00a0 As Dave Miller, editor of SBCVoices has stated about the voting process:<\/p>\n

“And please, folks, a word about ethics here. We believe that shameless electioneering, begging for votes, manipulating your friends to log on and vote for you \u2013 these are all acceptable and expected behaviors.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, in the spirit of this year’s SBC Blog Madness 2011 Tournament, I am asking my readers to click on the link, SBC Blog Madness 2011<\/a>, and vote for “From Law to Grace — Howell Scott” in the Southwest Region.\u00a0 You have until next Thursday, March 24 to vote.\u00a0 You can vote for up to four blogs in each of the four regions.\u00a0 The top four in each bracket will advance to the next round.<\/p>\n

Some of you have never heard of SBCVoices<\/a>.\u00a0 It is a website written by Southern Baptists for Southern Baptists\u00a0(and others) regarding some of the religious, cultural, political, legal,\u00a0and theological issues affecting our churches and our nation.\u00a0 I highly recommend it (not just because I’m a contributor, but that helps) to all of my readers.<\/p>\n
