American Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After spending three nights\u00a0at Riker&#8217;s Island Prison in New York for allegedly raping a 32 year-old maid in his $3,000 a night hotel room,\u00a0Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the now former head of the International Monetary Fund, has been freed on $6 million bail.\u00a0 While awaiting trial, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1388834\/Dominique-Strauss-Kahn-reunited-wife-Anne-Sinclair-hes-released-prison.html\" target=\"_blank\">he will live in an Upper East Side condo <\/a>where apartments rent for $8,800 per month.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t want to rent, you can pony up to\u00a0$26 million to buy one.\u00a0 The condo\u00a0complex comes with 24-hour concierge service and a\u00a0swimming pool.\u00a0 Oh, and maid service (no joke) is included.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, May 14, Strauss-Kahn was pulled out of the First Class cabin of an Air France jet just minutes before take-off to France, an &#8220;ally&#8221; of the United States with which we have no extradition treaty.\u00a0 Earlier that day, he allegedly sexually assaulted a 32 year-old single mom who is an immigrant from the North African nation of Guinea.\u00a0 Had Strauss-Kahn made it out of the\u00a0country, he would have never\u00a0faced\u00a0American justice.\u00a0 The Roman Polanski&#8217;s of the world just love France.\u00a0\u00a0Strauss-Kahn, a thrice married socialist leader in his native country, has been called\u00a0by some &#8220;a great seducer,&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/articles.cnn.com\/2011-05-16\/world\/france.strauss.kahn_1_imf-current-global-financial-crisis-politics?_s=PM:WORLD\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;a politician whose relationships with women have landed him in trouble.&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0 Now that&#8217;s a shock!\u00a0\u00a0To say that he&#8217;s had women troubles is a nice way of saying the man is a cad.\u00a0 In America,\u00a0some might call a man like Strauss-Kahn is a pig.\u00a0 Well, that is if he was conservative.\u00a0 Because he&#8217;s a socialist, he&#8217;ll probably get a pass from our nation&#8217;s elitists.<\/p>\n<p>And, apparently, he is a <del>pig<\/del>\u00a0man with a past that may come back to bite him.\u00a0 Not only has he been charged with the sexual assault of this New York maid, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1388834\/Dominique-Strauss-Kahn-reunited-wife-Anne-Sinclair-hes-released-prison.html\" target=\"_blank\">he has also been accused of rough behavior with several ladies sent from Manhattan madam Kristin Davis&#8217;s escort service back in 2006\u00a0(at\u00a0$2,500).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a general rule, none of Strauss-Kahn&#8217;s alleged past can be used against him at trial (although there are limited exceptions to this rule).\u00a0 However, that doesn&#8217;t mean that people in the court of public opinion have to ignore the sordid facts that continue to emerge about this 63 year-old now disgraced politician.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Strauss-Kahn&#8217;s alleged\u00a0history with women &#8212; not all of it good &#8212; and the facts that have already emerged in the current case, many within France are apparently turning a blind eye now.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/43106893\" target=\"_blank\">Maybe that explains\u00a0the sexist culture that apparently existed within the IMF in recent years.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The more libertine culture that exists in Europe may also explain why <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connexionfrance.com\/Survey-CSA-French-Dominique-Strauss-Kahn-Plot-12735-view-article.html\" target=\"_blank\">57% of adults in France think Strauss-Kahn was set up.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a socialist in that country, the number of conspiracy theorists rises to a wopping 70%.<\/a>\u00a0 These are probably the same people that think\u00a0France won World War II all by themselves or that Roman Polanski has gotten a bum rap.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully for the victim &#8212; not Strauss-Kahn &#8212; we are not in France, but in the United States of America.\u00a0 While we are not perfect, we have the greatest legal system in the world, for both those accused of a crime and the victims of crime.\u00a0 Mr. Strauss-Kahn, by virtue of the American Constitution, is entitled to a presumption of innocence.\u00a0 But, even though\u00a0he must be proven to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, Strauss-Kahn has been treated like an ordinary, common criminal, something that neither he nor his fellow\u00a0Frenchmen may understand.<\/p>\n<p>According to NYC Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/world\/2011\/05\/18\/2011-05-18_dominique_strausskahn_charged_with_sexually_assaulting_hotel_maid_intends_to_res.html?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;said the case was handled like any other, noting that the NYPD would face criticism if the Frenchman received any special treatment.&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0 <\/em>Someone like Strauss-Kahn, one fo the world&#8217;s elites, has probably never been treated like anyone else.\u00a0 He has lived the pampered life of\u00a0one of the world&#8217;s rich and famous, receiving special treatment wherever he goes.\u00a0 Whether staying at a $3,000 a night hotel in Manhattan or jetting around the world in First Class, this Frenchman must be completely dumbfounded to have found himself behind bars in Riker&#8217;s Island.\u00a0 He must truly be at a loss because his word has not been automatically believed over the testimony of a 32 year-old maid from North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>But, alas, the beauty of the American justice system.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/world\/2011\/05\/18\/2011-05-18_dominique_strausskahn_charged_with_sexually_assaulting_hotel_maid_intends_to_res.html?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">Where\u00a0an immigrant to the &#8220;Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave,&#8221;
