How long does it take to kill your audience? If you’re Rosie O’Donnell, the answer to that question is less than six months. The most arrogant<\/del> smartest woman in television, Oprah Winfrey, has finally pulled the plug on the horrendous “The Rosie Show.” <\/em><\/a>\u00a0For those who were not aware (which would be 99.9% of the country) that Ms. Winfrey had her own cable network — the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) — and that the formerly pleasant celebrity, Rosie O’Donnell, had her own talk show on said network, the cancellation of the low-rated broadcast will come as a complete and utter shock. I’m so sorry to ruin your day with this bit of bad news.<\/span><\/p>\n

I can’t say that I’m all that surprised at this\u00a0turn of events. I was wrong, however,\u00a0to think\u00a0that “The Rosie Show,”<\/em> which\u00a0debuted on October 10, 2011, would not make it past the end of\u00a0last year. I was off by three months. This\u00a0putrid excuse for a show, hosted by a woman who\u00a0gives credence to the wackadoodle\u00a0theory that the\u00a09\/11 attacks were some sort of conspiracy perpetrated by our own government <\/a>— specifically the\u00a0Bush\u00a0Administration — will end its mercifully short run on March 30.<\/a>\u00a0That is six months too long.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, when Ms. Winfrey, with much fanfare, announced that Rosie would have a new show on OWN, I wrote the following in my post, “Killing the Audience: Oprah Hires Rosie O’Donnell”:<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

That Ms. Winfrey has not only started her own cable network \u2014 named after herself \u2014 but has now chosen Rosie O\u2019Donnell to come to her rescue, should tell you all you need to know about Oprah and her supposed wisdom.\u00a0 Apparently the old adage is true:\u00a0 some people have more money than brains.\u00a0 I think before the year\u2019s end, both Oprah and Rosie will find that out the hard way when they kill whatever audience remains for OWN!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While she will never admit it, it appears that Ms. Winfrey indeed does have more money than brains, although the money part has to be less, thanks to the abysmal ratings that “The Rosie Show”<\/em>\u00a0garnered. From a high of 500,000 when it bowed in October 2011, the show quickly began hemorrhaging views, ending with about 150,000 viewers, obviously\u00a0poor souls with nothing better to do with their time\u00a0than watch Rosie O’Donnell.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is quite amusing to observe how Hollywood leftists — because of their hatred of middle America’s values and beliefs — are willing to produce movies and television shows that will most assuredly be financial disasters, all for the chance to thumb their noses at the heartland of this country.\u00a0\u00a0 Of course, those in Hollywood (or Chicago or New York) will\u00a0never admit that\u00a0they — and people like Rosie O’Donnell or Janeane\u00a0Garofalo\u00a0— are the problem when it comes to limiting or outright killing an audience<\/a>. <\/span>No, they will just reload and\u00a0try to foist more garbage on the rubes in “flyover”<\/em>\u00a0country, even\u00a0if the only audience for this dreck exists in the minds of\u00a0Hollywood elites. Perhaps someone, somewhere in Hollywood, will learn the lessons from Rosie’s failed show. Oh, who am I kidding? <\/span><\/p>\n
