Last Wednesday before our discipleship classes at Bethel, I had several folks ask about our church’s Maundy Thursday service. They wanted to know specifically what “Maundy”<\/em> meant. After explaining the meaning behind the Latin word for “commandment,”<\/em>\u00a0and Jesus’ words to His disciples recorded in the Gospel of John 13:34 — “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”<\/em><\/span> —\u00a0\u00a0I remembered that I, too, had asked those same questions my first Easter in 1998 as Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Poinciana, FL (near Kissimmee<\/p>\n

However, I’m sure that I did not ask my questions any better — or more sincerely — than one of our youth a few years ago when he inquired of our Student Pastor, “Why is Monday on a Thursday?”<\/em>\u00a0When Pastor Jon told me that, I knew I had a blog post coming.
