How many times does Harry S. Truman have to turn over in his grave? For the late, great Democrat President (I know that seems like an oxymoron these days), the buck stopped on his desk in the Oval Office. For the current Democrat President and his Administration, the buck never seems to stop on his desk — unless of course he is taking credit for killing Osama bin Laden. For this President, blame-shifting has become an art. While most Americans have grown weary of the President’s tired shtick of blaming George W. Bush — almost four years later — of all of his (Mr. Obama’s) own failings, his pathetic excuses for a listless economy now pale in comparison to the Obama Administration’s groveling apologies and excuses in the wake of the assassination of a sitting American Ambassador in Libya and the storming of the U.S. Embassy in Egypt.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is just as clueless as President Obama when it comes to the radical Islamic threat facing the United States and the West (including Israel), continues to trot out the lie that an internet video is somehow responsible for the attacks on our diplomatic installations in Cairo and Benghazi:
“I also want to take a moment to address the video circulating on the internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries. . . .” (emphasis added)
No. This is categorically not true. Why does this Administration — from Barack Hussein Obama to Hillary Clinton — make excuses for radical Muslims (who are, by the way, the mainstream in much of the world) who need no excuses to kill, maim, and destroy? Why is Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, repeating the mistake of Gen. David Petraeus by calling a clearly disgusting individual (Jones) in an attempt to appease radical Muslims by trying to chill an American who is exercising — however reprehensible it might be — his First Amendment rights? Of course, as I am writing this post, Obama’s Department of Defense has distanced itself from Gen. Dempsey’s actions. Wow. Talk about blame-shifting. That bus sure came by fast!
The video in question, distributed by Terry Jones, the senior pastor of Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville, FL — which I could almost guarantee that none of these “protesters” even saw before launching their deadly attacks on our Consulate in Libya — was merely a pretext for murder and violence. But, when it comes to radical Islam and American values — such as Free Speech and the First Amendment — it seems this Administration will make excuse after excuse to appease barbarians that can never be appeased.
For liberal feminists like Hillary Clinton, a “blame-the-victim” (in this case, America) defense would seem to be at odds with that political philosophy. I thought that the “blame-the-victim” defense went out of vogue a generation ago. Imagine someone trying to excuse a rapist because his victim dressed provocatively. Would anyone today — particularly leftists like Hillary Clinton — say that how a woman dressed “led to the violence” that she encountered? That, rightly so, is seen as an absurd argument that does not excuse an evil and atrocious act by a thug.
Instead of taking time to shift the blame to an obscure video, why not take the first few minutes to look the camera in the eye — and look Islamic radicals in the eye — and tell the world that the next person who tries to come over the wall at any of our embassies will be shot? Oh, that’s right. According to at least one reputable source, Ms. Clinton and the brain trust at the State Department does not allow our Marines to carry live ammunition at our embassies in the Middle East. So much for defending our American diplomatic personnel abroad.
But, when it comes to blaming anyone and everyone but the Islamic butchers responsible for the murder of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans, this Administration will continue to use the U.S. Constitution to wipe the blood off their hands. And, if we the people — who own this country — do not recognize that “free speech is free speech is free speech,” then the slippery slope of offending Muslim sensibilities will lead to a further (and quicker) erosion of our freedoms here in America!
As my dad used to say, “If you’re 18 and not a Democrat, then you don’t have a heart.
If you’re 26 and you’re STILL a Democrat…then you don’t have a brain.”
I can’t argue with your dad’s wisdom 🙂
So how far will we have to go in order not to offend Islamic sensibilities? Do they get to decide for us what speech is acceptable to their ears? So, don’t offend the murderous bully and he will stop? Yeah, that always works. (sarcasm)
These are barbarians who still live in a stone age mindset and have been killing each other for centuries. They do not value human life at all. Hillary and Obama are doing what they only know how to do: Blame others and not take responsibility. And we forget that Obama had to appoint the Ambassador. And today we heard some very troublling things that were done to him before he was murdered. But blame the video for their barbaric behavior? Itr is not their fault? They are just so angry at us and that gives them the right to brutally murder Americans?
This is what happens when we elect empty suits with no experience because of some vague notion of hope and change. Empty mantras and platitudes. What bothers me the most is how few Americans seem to realize just how badly he has bungled this one. Is this the new normal? No grownups in charge anymore? Give me a boring president with grey hair who is more interested in substance and responsibility. Do we have an electorate capable of choosing wisely? That is the question. We have become a society that values celebrity, charisma and empty platitudes. I am fearful this is the new normal.
Lydia,
That is the exact problem. When we have a President who chooses Letterman over Netanyahu, that’s really all we need to know about Obama’s priorities. His bungling of the economy is bad enough. His inept — and dangerous — foreign policy is unconscionable. Radical Muslims need no excuse to do what they do. That Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama either ignore this truth or don’t care about this truth is pathetic. I am not surprised because anyone with any sense knew what Obama was all about prior to the last election. However, when Obama’s own Ambassador is assassinated on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 and he goes to sleep before knowing the outcome of the attack in Libya, Mr. Obama has shown that he is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces. I am done being nuanced when it comes to Mr. Obama’s abdication of leadership and his dangerous policies for America and the world, including Israel. Enough is enough! But, should he get a second term, look for our free speech rights to be further curtailed, all in the name of not offending barbarians. When that happens, I will continue to preach that their is only one true God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and all other gods are false gods. Sometimes the truth hurts. Thanks and God bless,
Howell
“Do we have an electorate capable of choosing wisely? That is the question. We have become a society that values celebrity, charisma and empty platitudes. I am fearful this is the new normal.”
Lydia – we have become so open-minded in this country that our brains have fallen out.
It’s getting increasingly difficult to raise a national son to the highest office in this land who has a Biblical worldview. From 9/11 forward, a spiritual battle has been unleashed on the world stage that our leaders just don’t get. America can un-declare war in the Middle East, but radical Islam has declared war on us forever.
Hi HOWELL,
personally, I tend to agree with the many people who think Mitt Romney jumped the shark this week . . . embarrassing for him, I’m sure
Christiane,
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. It would probably not surprise you that I don’t think Mitt Romney jumped the shark or embarrassed himself. If anything, I don’t think he was forceful enough in condemning the attacks. The ones who should be embarrassed over this sad ordeal are President Obama and Sec. of State Hillar Clinton. But, as the buck never seems to stop at their desks, I don’t imagine that they will even comprehend why they should be both embarrassed and ashamed. Thanks and God bless,
Howell
L’s,
Watch out. You Liberation Theology is bleeding out and people might recognize you for the anti-American, anti-conservative, and anti-biblical Christian that you are.
Personally, I think Romney did the exact thing he needed to do. Given the fact that I am planning to vote for him, I wanted to know what he thought when I first heard of that stupid statement that was released from the state department apologizing for a dumb movie when the people were attacking US. If Romney hadn’t said anything, it’s doubtful the prez would have said anything until someone nailed him down between campaign appearances. He is the one who was pathetic in his response. Which, personally, I think did not help the situation around the rest of the world.
Hariette,
I think you are correct that Romney’s statement caused the President to eventually get around to responding. Talk about leading from behind. As I shared with Christiane, I think that both Obama and Clinton shoudl be embarrassed and ashamed of their respones. However, it is evident from the last few days that they both have a naive and dangerous view of the world. Pathetic indeed! Thanks and God bless,
Howell
What amazes me is that people actually think bullies who happen to be barbarians will listen to empty platitudes and change. They actually respect boldness and strength. The very opposite of what our leadership displays. (One of my favorites on this issue is Jay Smith, an Islamic scholar Christian who debates Muslims in Hyde Park in London. He is bold and truthful and the Muslims love it)
People still do not understand this about Islam. What they perceive as weakness, they steamroller over. And their leaders are more than happy to have young men strap on bomb belts and kill women and children in the process.
hopefully, my previous comment was read by those knowing the correct timeline of events that occurred . . . it was the timing that the press criticized:
that ‘press release’ by the embassy?
it was made many hours prior to the attack on the embassy . . .
unfortunately, that was not known by Romney when he intially made his accusations
if he had waited and checked his facts and details, he would have been spared some embarrassment
As of today, even conservatives are on Romney’s case, including one that some of you probably follow closely:
“Bryan Fischer: ‘If Barack Obama Wins This Election, The Republican Party As We Know It Is Finished'”
Bryan Fischer who is likely admired by many here, wants Romney to give more details to the public in his speeches, and wants Romney to ‘unmuzzle’ Paul Ryan. (I didn’t know Romney had muzzled him)
I am not a fan of Bryan Fisher, but if HE is criticizing Romney, then you can honestly say that conservatives are not all happy with Romney and how he is running his campaign.
It’s getting interesting, and I think it will be a close race. Hopefully all Americans who are eligible to vote will be allowed to do so. We shall see.
Christiane, I have not heard of Bryan Fischer but I can assure you he does not speak for republicans enmasse. It does not work that way.. It would be like me trotting out Pat Caddell to prove that democrats have a problem with Obama. The biggest problem conservatives/republicans have is we are not monolithic and are horrible at sticking to the “script”. It has always been this way. We are very independent thinkers and disagree “in house” quite a bit. Makes it much harder to win elections than a party that goes along with whatever platform (booing God/promoting abortion?) to win. In other words, republicans/conservatives rarely sell their souls to the party. I personally think that is healthy but it does not win elections as easily. Some repub/conservatives are economic conservatives. Some are social conservatives. Some are both. It is like herding cats!
For me, I am a small government conservative first and foremost because the bigger the government the smaller the people in ALL areas of life including social policy. One area my government is tasked by the Constitution is protection of our people and interests. That is one area it can be “large” government. Protection of our people and interests. When one of our Ambassadors is murdered, it is an act of war. The way our President handled this right away speaks volumes that he is not qualified. It should have been the final proof anyone needed but most will put party ahead of country. In fact, they had to shift blame so people would not look too closely at the timeline and Obama’s schedule. I have no doubt that most Americans will not understand the long term implications of having an inept president. 80 years of socialistic teaching in our schools has taken care of that problem. We are no longer a country of thinkers and doers. .
“Hopefully all Americans who are eligible to vote will be allowed to do so. We shall see.”
And I hope those who are not eligible to vote don’t get to this time but that is wishful thinking— especially in Chicago. :o). But I do hope our military absentee votes are counted this time, too.
Christiane,
I have never heard of Bryan Fischer. I consider myself to be rather astute when it comes to conservative and/or Republican politics. It’s not that I couldn’t have missed who this guy is, but, as Lydia says, the most certainly does not speak for many conservatives. If I had to guess, he probably only speaks for himself and his immediate family. As to Romney’s statement, the only thing I would criticize is that it did not go far enough in exposing the dangerous and feckless foreign policy of the Obama Administration. Thanks and God bless,
Howell
