Who would have thought that the “gender inclusive” insanity would make its way to the heartland? Well, okay. Everyone who follows our culture’s downward (and increasingly post-Christian, anti-God) spiral should not be surprised that a Nebraska Public School has now forbidden the use of “boys” and “girls” when referring to boys and girls:
“Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention,” reads a handout from the Lincoln Public Schools that was given to teachers.” . . .
“The agenda we’re promoting is to help all kids succeed,” Brenda Leggiardo the district’s coordinator of social workers and counselors told the newspaper. “We have kids who come to us with a whole variety of circumstances, and we need to equitably serve all kids.”
Pity that this woman’s name is Brenda (the same as my wife). She does a grave injustice to the name. And, she is either a lunatic or a liar. The leftists in charge of the Lincoln Public Schools are not promoting an agenda “to help all kids succeed.” That is ludicrous on its face.
The agenda being promoted is a virulently anti-Christian, anti-God agenda which seeks to blur — if not altogether eliminate — the lines between boys and girls and men and women. Regardless of the spin used to advance this agenda, it is — at its heart — a direct assault on the Creator. This is saddening, but it is far from unexpected. In fact, the Apostle Paul, writing to the church at Rome in the 1st Century, addresses this same kind of distorted agenda, which mars the beauty of God’s Creation:
“Therefore, God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” (Romans 1:24-25)
It is a lie to teach and indoctrinate children that there are more than two genders. It is a lie to teach and indoctrinate children that there is no difference between boys and girls or men and women. It is a lie to teach and indoctrinate children that we can do anything with “our” bodies because gender differences are a social construct that needs to be abolished.
God has Created men and women (boys and girls) in His image:
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
Because of the Fall, the image of God has been marred by sin. One of the ways that it has been marred in our contemporary culture is that fools like those in charge of the Lincoln Public School system believe that transgender should be celebrated and placed on an equal level with maleness and femaleness. As is evident by the actions of a public school deep in the heartland, the false concept of transgender (along with a whole host of equally false concepts relating to sexuality) is becoming more and more accepted throughout the nation.
While we should always be grace-filled, loving, and compassionate toward those whose image has been marred by sin, we must always speak the truth in love. It is loving — and not a lie — to say that the only way that the marred image of God can be restored in sinners (regardless of their sin) is through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary. That will become more difficult to do in the coming months and years.
However, if teachers and administrators peddle lies to children, then we must not be afraid to call them out on it. I would begin by addressing the ladies and gentlemen of the Lincoln Public School system, but I don’t want to start off by saying something that was offensive or wasn’t true. And, that has nothing to do with their gender!
What phrases/words are appropriate to refer to a class of students? “Hay you” comes to mind
